Apple is still hiring employees for its AR (augmented reality)-MR (mixed reality) headset project, indicating that the operation is still active. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Dave Scott, a former senior member of the self-driving car unit, who left in early 2021, has returned, AppleInsider reports.

With experience selling complicated products and a track record in the medical and robotics industries, Scott’s involvement is expected to bring health-related applications to headsets.

Yaniv Gur, Senior Director of Engineering, has also joined the headset group. Gur has worked engineering iWork and other native applications since he joined Apple more than two decades ago.

It is hoped that Gur’s involvement “could lead to the development of productivity apps for headsets,” according to the report.

Recently, the company has also posted a significant number of job openings for the Technology Development Group, which is in charge of headphone development. Some job postings are for positions in content production, including visual effects software developers.

Earlier, it was reported that the tech giant was planning to start mass production of its AR-MR headsets from March next year. Mass production of the headphones would likely start in March 2023 and could be unveiled the following month.
