Apple Inc has allowed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in apps but banned them from accessing app features and content, according to its new guidelines.
“Apps can use in-app purchase to sell and sell services related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), such as minting, listing, and transferring. Apps may allow users to view their own NFTs, so long as ownership of NFTs does not unlock features or functions within the app,” Apple said in a statement.
The company said that as long as the apps do not direct users to external sites or other purchasing options, except for in-app sales, users can browse other users’ NFT collections.
It indicates that Apple’s 30 percent fee for in-app commerce will apply to NFT transactions, much higher than the 2.5 percent transaction fee applied…
