Nethermind, an Ethereum development company, is helping to launch the Uniswap decentralized exchange (DEX) on the StarkNet Layer-2 network.

As revealed in a blog post by Jorik Schellekens, the deployment of Uniswap on StarkNet was made possible by Project Warp.

The Warp Project seeks to make the best Ethereum DApps and protocols available and accessible on the StarkNet network. That Nethermind was able to hack the Uniswap V3 protocol is a testament to the progress being made to create a strong ecosystem for StarkNet.

The start of development is yet to finalize the plugin that will help fine-tune the warp move, which will be done quickly through interfacing and other testing. According to Jorik, a major drawback that is being found is that most Ethereum DApps, including Uniswap, are written in the Solidity programming language, while StarkNet is predominantly written in Cairo.

As a result, a compiler is needed to make sense of the code so that it works on the alternate Layer 2 protocol.

“We are pleased to announce that the next big milestone has been reached in the Warp project: we have successfully transpiled and compiled Uniswap v3! What’s more, we are finishing up a helmet plugin that allows you to run all your Solidity helmet tests on the transpiled Cairo,” Jorik said in his opening statement.

The launch of Uniswap on StarkNet will offer many benefits to users of the pioneering automated market maker on Ethereum. In addition to getting a better rate on their transactions, StarkNet Uniswap users are bound to see their transactions complete faster than the Layer-1 based version.

According to Jorik, Project Warp is sure to introduce additional features that will better serve users in the StarkNet protocol beyond already hosted projects like the Empirical Network.

“Warp will not stop with Uniswap! We will continue to work hard on features and repeat this experiment with a few other protocols, bringing new protocols to StarkNet at lightning speed,” he said.
