Spanish soccer league LaLiga and Dapper Labs have announced that their LaLiga Golazos (Golazos) digital collectible offering will launch on October 27. That’s when the platform will have its first NFT release and the start of the closed beta.
This announcement comes just over a year after Dapper Labs first announced that it would develop non-fungible token (NFT) video moments for LaLiga.
As the NFT sector matures, the offerings become more feature-rich, and this one is no different. Each moment will include a broadcast replay, fan reactions, multilingual play-by-play narration and match statistics, providing NFT owners with an immersive experience. It is Dapper Labs’ first bilingual product, allowing them to tap into revenue from the Spanish-speaking market.
“LaLiga is steeped in history, tradition and legendary moments and our fans are some of the most passionate in the world and we are excited to offer them a new way to experience the moments they love,” said LaLiga CEO Óscar Mayo.
Since Dapper Labs originated the concept of video moments, it is an ideal partner for LaLiga. From a business perspective, moments offer far more income opportunities than player card collectibles. There is a seemingly infinite number of video moments compared to a very limited number of players.
This remains Dapper Labs’ largest non-US sports deal to date. His major sports partnerships thus far include NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day, and UFC Strike. In the case of NFL All Day, Dapper is doubling down on its investment with multiple team deals.
Based on transaction numbers (rather than revenue), all three of Dapper’s sports companies are in the top 15 for the past week. According to CryptoSlam, NFL All Day is number one, NBA Top Shot is number 5, and UFC Strike is number 14.
