Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other major cryptocurrencies have plunged to price levels not seen in months, if not more, but that hasn’t stopped more than twice as many people and businesses from filing Web3-related trademark applications.
According to data compiled by trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis, some 4,150 metaverse or virtual “goods/services” applications have been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office as of August 31, easily dwarfing the 1,866 filed in 2021.
