Strike raised $80 million in funding to renew BTC payments for major financial institutions, markets, and merchants.

Jack Mallers, CEO and founder of Strike, noted:

“We are moving full speed ahead not only to integrate Strike’s revolutionary payments with leading merchants, but globally, with a variety of companies and partners to innovate and deliver greater financial inclusion.”

As a leading digital payments platform based on the Bitcoin Lightning Network, Strike recently launched its flagship API aimed at making instant, final cash and global payments by eradicating exchange and other processing fees.

Some investors who participated in the $80 million financing included the University of Wyoming, Ten31, and Washington University in St. Louis, among others.

As Strike is poised to revamp Landscape financial services and payments, Grant Gilliam believes it will deliver a more inclusive, innovative and efficient financial experience for everyone.

The co-founder and managing partner of Ten31 added:

“Strike and Ten31 have a shared vision of the positive impact Bitcoin can have on the world and are mutually aligned to accelerate its adoption. So it was a natural fit to partner with Strike as their lead investor.”

Strike intends to use the capital to drive growth beyond its Commerce API, enhance existing partnerships, and launch new collaborations. For example, the digital payments platform intends to launch new product lines that will be responsible for creating in-house solutions for large companies and financial institutions.

Mallers added:

“Companies and institutions also want an innovative payment sending experience. We can empower companies to move money in ways that networks like card networks and SWIFT can’t, and we pay these partners in the form of commissions to do it, which makes it an exciting innovation for everyone. We’ve seen a lot of demand here.”

Having logged over two million app downloads, it seems the sky is the limit for Strike, as it allows users to send dollars instantly and free of charge globally.

Meanwhile, Strike allowed Shopify merchants the option to receive off-chain BTC payments, which are easily confirmed, faster, and cheaper than those processed on-chain, Blockchain.News reported.
