RJ White, 29, knows how difficult it can be to persuade Meta to put a game in her VR headset. He first applied in 2019 with a multiplayer shooter game called “Animov”, but was informed via an email form that the game was not a good fit.

He tried again with “Hardlight Blade,” a game in which players use laser-like swords to slice and dice attacking robots. That request was also rejected. Finally, after introducing “Sun Shard,” a basic sword-fighting game set inside a dungeon, White got the approval of Meta and what he hopes will be a lucrative foothold in the VR industry.
